Day in Duluth

After we left Jay Cooke we checked in to our hotel and then spent some time at Canal Park in Duluth while we were waiting to go to the Teen Challenge banquet.  It just so happened that a ship was due to leave anytime, so that worked out well!

This ship was 1,000ft long!

What a life that would be to live and work on a ship.

Dressed up for the banquet!

The Teen Challenge banquet was at the Duluth Event Center which was overlooking the harbor.
If you aren't familiar with the ministry of Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge I encourage you to look them up, God is using them mightily.

This dessert was soooo good!
The next morning we drove up to Enger Tower and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day.

Unfortunately we weren't able to climb up the tower as the gate was locked, people had been throwing pumpkins off the top and they were laying around all smashed :-/

It was a beautiful day driving around Duluth and a fun little get away from home!

Jay Cooke State Park

Hello All!  It has been quite awhile since I've posted anything here so I'd say it is about time!  This week my parents and I went to Duluth, MN for a night to attend a Teen Challenge fundraiser banquet.  On the way we were able to stop at Jay Cooke state park which has been on my bucket list for awhile.  It was gorgeous this time of year with the leaves turning color.

This stone building was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and reminded me of some of the buildings at Itasca Park which were also built by the CCC.
This reminds me of Forest Inn at Itasca Park.

The lady at the Visitor Center said the river was really high right now because they've had a lot of rain recently.

More pretty trees and a stone picnic shelter that was also built by the CCC.

It was really fun to see something new!  God's creation is so amazing I am continually left in awe by it.  The next post will be from our day in Duluth!
